Dear Friends, August 2023
We are now fully retired from direct Bible translation work, and our daily activities have adjusted accordingly. Andy is still asked to advise colleagues on multi-language translation strategies, but our days of traveling overseas are over. Our focus now is praying for the Bible translation effort and for our families in North America and abroad. One note of praise we received this week is that four of the last seven New Testaments Andy helped finalize in S. Asia have just been released in print form!
A joy we now have is volunteering for community events such as the annual Blueberry Festival and planting riparian buffers in a local conservancy.
Being at home, we get to host friends and family. Right now, our church’s new pastor and his family are with us until they find a house. We’re also enjoying being helpful to Kate’s mom who lives nearby.
In July, many Rings gathered to mark Kate’s 70th birthday. It was also a day to celebrate other family milestones and share summer activities like fishing! We had nearly 40 people gather for the main dinner.
Gardening and growing vegetables is Andy’s early morning activity.
